Although Dr. Nissen stresses that statins are effective for most patients, bempedoic acid may offer an alternative treatment with minimal side effects.
In addition, the American College of Cardiology lists alternatives such as ezetimibe, PCSK9 inhibitors, and Inclisiran. Each medication works differently to help lower cholesterol levels, and their suitability varies depending on individual needs.
