Our goal is to provide science-backed—and expert-approved—answers for your most important health questions and problems. Whether that’s finding out what nutrients you really need (and where to get them), how to navigate the healthcare system, which home remedies or alternative therapies are worth trying, or the best ways to deal with your own—or others—anxiety, depression, or chronic condition, you’ve come to the right place.

To do so, our editorial team relies on scientific studies published in peer-reviewed medical journals; recognized organizations that provide health information like the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; first-person stories from people who have experienced a specific health condition or problem;  as well as medical experts with years of experience, including our own Medical Review Board.

Every day our edit team, which includes a network of experienced reporters and writers, reaches out and talks to experts—scientists, patients, doctors, nurses, dentists, and registered dietitians, just to name a few—to bring you accurate and honest answers to your health questions.

Theresa Tamkins has more than 20 years of experience as a reporter, writer, editor, and director of editorial teams covering health and science content. Formerly the health editor at BuzzFeed News and editor in chief of Time Inc’s Health.com, Theresa is a specialist in health, wellness, nutrition, fitness, and condition content. She has written for CNN, The Lancet, MSNBC, WebMD, The Scientist, Healthday, and Reuters Health, among others. Before becoming a journalist, Theresa was a research scientist in immunology. She has a master’s degree in journalism from the Science, Health & Environmental Reporting Program at New York University. You can follow her on Twitter.

John Hastings: Managing Editor

With more than 25 years’ experience covering nutrition, fitness, medicine, and mental wellness, John has held senior positions at O, The Oprah Magazine, Prevention, Good Housekeeping, Health, and Reader’s Digest. He’s also the author of several books, including The Healthy Heart Miracle Diet (co-authored with Columbia University cardiologist Lori Mosca, MD, PhD), and ChangeOne, the official Reader’s Digest diet.

Lizette Borreli: Senior Editor

Previously, Lizette was an editor at the American Academy of Neurology’s publications, Neurology Today and Brain & Life and a contributing writer at Newsweek and more. Lizette is a native New Yorker who grew up in Brooklyn. When she’s not writing, editing, and researching all things health, Lizette is probably out looking for the newest coffee shop, doing yoga, hiking, or cheering for her favorite New York sports teams.

Emily DiNuzzo: Associate Editor

A former assistant staff writer at Reader’s Digest, Emily’s work has appeared online at the Food Network and Well + Good and in print at Westchester Magazine, and more. When she’s not writing about food and health with a cuppa by her side, you can find her lifting heavy things at the gym and listening to murder mystery podcasts.
